About Therese

Therese Borchard is President of Therese Borchard, LLC, where she combines her communications expertise and passion for mental health advocacy to help organizations create meaningful content and better engage with consumers. She is Contributing Editor at Health Central, Associate Editor and a regular contributor at Psych Central, and a weekly columnist for Guideposts. She is also the founder of two dynamic online depression communities of more than 30,000 members and maintains a popular, award-winning blog at thereseborchard.com.

Therese speaks to audiences around the country about depression and other topics and regularly participates in advisory boards with healthcare and pharmaceutical companies to facilitate engagement with consumers. In the past she has served as Senior Writer at Crosby Marketing Communications, Emotional Health Columnist for Everyday Health and Beliefnet, and a contributor to Yahoo, CNN.com, The Huffington Post, PBS.org, and other media outlets. 

Named a Top 10 Influencer in the Online Depression Community by Sharecare and other websites and regarded as a subject matter expert in mental health, Therese is often solicited for quotes on depression for a variety of publications and news channels. She is a regular guest on radio programs throughout the country, and has appeared on national television shows such as “Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher,” “Fox & Friends,” and “ABC News Now.”

Therese is the author of Beyond Blue: Surviving Depression & Anxiety and Making the Most of Bad Genes, The Pocket Therapist: An Emotional Survival Guide, and What Does Depressed Mean? among other titles. She holds a Master of Arts Degree in Theological Studies from the University of Notre Dame and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Humanities Degree in 2011 by her alma mater, Saint Mary’s College, for her outstanding contributions to the field of mental health. Therese is a Special Advisor to the Johns Hopkins Mood Disorder Center and an advisory board member of the National Network of Depression Centers.
